Mylapore Tank

Where is Mylapur Tank!
It is to the west of MountRoad between the Railway tracks and the MountRoad, to be precise, i am referring to the places called T.Nagar, Kodambakkam, Nandanam and call them Mylapur Tank!

Am I Nuts?? No...

This is what i am talking about. Chennai as in early 1900s.

heard from my friend that, once the 'Rettai Eri' was
around 300 acres and now, its just occupying 40 acres.
Moreover, govt laid roads in the enchroached area,
it seems!

seems you had a microscopic lens to move into those details..

regarding the flooding, I saw few clippings in Sun TV news on Duraipakkam and Velacheri.. it was horrible man, they are in the middle of the water for the last few weeks.

Thennavan,
Even i did not note it initially. Only later i search for T.nagar and landed up in Mylapur Tank. :P

Vatsan,
True!

WA,
correct!
More than the lake being encroached, you can find a small canal that connect the "mylapur tank" to adyar river, which would help to drain out the over fills in the tank. This would also have been encroached, leading to the floods.

Sundaresan,
Most of the encroachments is done by the governments. Esp, after 1967.
Slum clearance boards, highway authorities, find the water bodies as easy access to prime lands.

Ram,
double click panni, enlarge pannina, it is fully visible ;)
BTW, yeah, heard that Velachery is badly affected. Donno, how was the ex-mayor's house.

Sidharth,
Nandri

Dubukku,
Think tanko, petrol tanko, septic tank aaghama irundh asari dhaan :P

Priya,
:)
